I had been commissioned to work on a logo for a law firm. I went through a couple of iterations and it was decided that we were going to work with a black and white version of this option:
So I started working on that and added a 3-D look to the background and gave the lettering a metallic look. I showed them a preview of a couple of looks to see which one they liked better, and I was going to do finishing work on the one they chose. I would then give them several files so they would have print versions as well as web versions.
That was about 2 months ago, and I haven’t heard from them. Emails and phone calls have gone unanswered. It is like they have fallen off the face of the planet. I don’t know if they took one of my designs and are using it (I hope not – it was for print and the image they have is very low-res) or if they have decided not to get a new logo. Oh well, I guess that is one of the joys of freelancing.
I will try to contact them again to see if they would like the finished product. At this point, I haven’t given them a finished product, so I do not feel like I have been ripped off. I would like to finish the product and get paid, but there is nothing I can do if they changed their mind.
