I started working on a logo for a law firm. I started by showing them a few things to see what direction they would like to go.
I started with a stone slab with some raised letters. This one is my favorite. I like the way the letters look like molded plastic letters. It also looks good when I give them a metallic finish.
Then I created a block with a mirror finish that had raised letters on it. This one really looks good when I clean up the lettering and fix the lighting. I presented them with a better version that has the name of their firm on it. This isn’t too bad, but the lettering isn’t nearly as good. If they had chosen this one, I probably would have given it a tiled look, giving it 6 or 8 mirror tiles across the front.
And finally, I went with a two-tone block with raised letters on it. This has a very clean and professional look to it. It looks even better when the letters are metallic. The lighting wasn’t very good in this rendering, giving a double shadow that makes the lower word hard to read. What can I say, it’s a rough draft.
My client chose number 3 with a few adjustments. I am going to give the block some depth and definition as well as give the letters a metallic look. I gave them a few options to look at as far as what kind of metal letters and a few different shapes for the block.
